it's always way more fun designing for my customers than designing for myself. i get a stale eye on my own house-i hate this!!
i need to replace my pair of club chairs in my family room...and i'm kinda dying for this rug layered on top of a seagrass......saw it at market and instantly fell in love.
the room its going in.......

got this rug a long time ago-have loved it but kinda sick of all the red. can easlily sell on craigs list which justifies my new rug purchase :)

hubby hates these chairs....and he still hasn't forgiven me for throwing out his ugly old leather chair!
great excuse to replace with a pair of these......(without the skirt!)
here's where i'm REALLY stuck......i cant decide if i should do the lighter brown on the chair or the darker....and want to incorporate the animal somehow-pillows or ottoman
HELP!!! AM I ON THE RIGHT TRACK??? I NEED YOUR OPINION!!!!!
confused!!!
but psyched its friday-almost cocktail hour-wahoo!! happy weekend yall!! |
ps-new painting may look good in here?
I think the lighter fabric is nicest with a mix of the coral and animal print in pillows. Those rugs are both gorgeous but I can see why you like the new one. Pretty painting too.
ReplyDeleteThx Kerry! When I first saw that light brown I instantly knew it was the one but always need the opinions of others who know their colors- thx for your opinion-ill blog on the new chairs in the lighter brown....in about 12 weeks (ugh!)
DeleteI agree.. I think the lighter fabric with animal print pillows! And, THAT RUG!! LOVE!! Where can I find one?? definitely like the softness of it, when compared to the older red!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you like the rug! It's a tough sell since ill have to live with it so long but I haven't stopped thinkin about it for 6 months and ordered it for a customer and have been super jealous ever since! It's from peel outside of New Orleans. Tey have awesome stuff!!
DeleteI understand! I always find cute things and drive myself crazy with decor decisions! Do you have an online business/website? consultations? I have recently bought a home and like you, have in my mind what I like and want, just need that extra little voice to say yes, that looks great! :)
DeleteLucy, what a fab rug find. As I read along I was actually liking the gray color for the chair as it picks up on the gray in the rug. But then I saw you going with the browns. With the seagrass under layer and the lightness of the rug, a little contrast would be good - so go darker. But that's a lot of beige/brown going on. And if you keep the walls white or off white that's tons of neutrals with the only pops of color from the rug and maybe pillows. Animal print (in moderation) goes with everything and every room should have a least one piece. Pillows are ok, but if you have a side chair. The coral might be a bit redundant so be careful how much you pull in. The right shade of green would be nice to add - a few pillows, each on different - could even pic up the rug pattern with a Suzani design pillow fabric for one of the pillow, perhaps in the coral color. Don't stress too much. It's a lovely room with a lovely rug. All will be well. Cheers.
ReplyDeleteAwesome feedback!! I love love love it! Totally get what you are saying about the contrast which is why I pulled the darker sample. But I'm too in love with the lighter!!! Ill make up for it in the pillows....have to revisit those options and I'm glad you think rs okay to get some green despite it not being in the rug. Thx for all the great input!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love it all Lucy!! I especially love the chair! Should I get a pair of those?
ReplyDeleteWhat room are you thinking for? We need to discuss!
DeleteYou are the designer you tell me!!!
Deleteoooo... definitely include the gorgeous art in there! For the chair fabric, I would go for the darker. I always like the durability a darker fabric can bring, plus I love the way it works with the rug and animal print pillow! So exciting!!
ReplyDeleteoh no amber!! i was set on the lighter and now you are making me reconsider!! (haha) once i first saw the lighter fabric i honestly fell in love with it but i got the darker colorway (which im not liking as much)for the sake of contrast. TOTALLY get the contrast factor so i totally agree with you! hmmmmmm...still more in love with the light though....now i wish i had never seen the dark! always a compromise! stay tuned for the end result-thx amber!!!!!!
DeleteI like the lighter fabric as well. And I'm LOVING the leopard fabric, as well as the rug! Can't wait to see the finished product!!! You have such great style and your house is gorgeous!
ReplyDeletethank you thank you!!!!!!! i wish it didnt take so long to get the darn chairs done but stay tuned for the finished product!!!!!
DeleteI like the lighter. This is going to be beautiful -- that painting works fantastically!!
ReplyDeleteokay, now that i have your okay, i know i am good to go! thank you soooooooo much for the feedback!
